Last week, a 32-year-old man was arrested — despite his denials — because lab results all but prove he’s the father.

Johnathan David Rogers of Valparaiso faces felony charges for unlawful activity with certain minors, according to his Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

He was 30 when the girl met him on the Internet, according to the report. At that time, she was engaged and living with another man — a 20-year-old.

But shortly after meeting online, the girl met Rogers in person. In June 2006, she went to his Crestview home.

They would have unprotected sex “on a regular basis” after that — 50 to 70 times over the next few months, according to the report.

After the girl’s baby was born in May, investigators took DNA samples. Rogers confirmed he knew the now-18-year-old, but “denied ever having any type of sexual relations” with her.

An Oct. 11 DNA test suggested otherwise:

“The DNA profiles of the child and the mother were compared with that from the alleged father,” the lab results state. “The DNA profile of Johnathan David Rogers is consistent with the DNA profile required of the child’s biological father.”

The probability of paternity was listed at 99.99 percent.

To further eliminate any doubts, investigators asked if Rogers had an identical twin. He said he did not.

Rogers’ current address is listed on Kelly Mill Road in Valparaiso, but his permanent address is in Hendersonville, N.C. He is listed as a self-employed tiles laborer.

He was arrested Nov. 21 and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18.
