The Tulare County Superior Court announced its Self-Help Resource Center and Family Law Facilitator's office will move Aug. 21 to a larger office at 3400 W. Mineral King Ave., Suite C in Visalia.
Help for those representing themselves in cases concerning family law — including adoptions, child support, guardianships and domestic violence — will be expanded at the new center.
Weekly classes will still be provided at the center for those who need help with divorce cases, child custody, visitation and support orders, paternity establishment and other issues. The new center will be able to hold larger classes for up to 20 individuals in a single session. The new center will be staffed with two attorneys, three paralegals and two legal clerks as well as interns and volunteers.The Self-Help Center will continue to offer outreach services at the Porterville courthouse from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays in Courtroom 3; similar services are also provided in Courtroom 3 of the Tulare courthouse from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month.
Services are also available beginning at noon Tuesday through Friday at a satellite office in the Department of Child Support Services, 8040 Doe Ave. in Visalia.
